The Rosette Nebula is an emission nebula located some 3000 light years away in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way. In the night sky it is located above and to the left of the star Betelgeuse in the constellation of Orion. The “Rose of the Milky Way” consists of nebula matter and an open star cluster with young stars formed by the nebulosity. In this picture I deliberately reduced star sizes to emphasize the nebula. I took 300 second exposures with Ha, Oiii and SII filters with the Nebula rig, in total 4.25 hours of exposures obtained in April 2022. This image was made with the astrophotography software PixInsight in December 2023.
