My wife, our dog and myself went for an excursion to Mörby castle ruin close to the city of Rimbo on the 10th of august, 2022. This castle ruin was first mentioned 1387 as built by the knight Henrik Damerow but destroyed in a fire back in 1740. The brickwork still stands, however, and is quite an amazing sight.
We had an almost clear night with the full moon rising just after sunset. The castle ruin was positioned due south in relation to the camera. From the app “Photopills” I had calculated this position to be perfect to include the castle ruin with the full moon over the tree tops in the picture. When “blue hour” came I took a picture of the castle ruin before the moon had reached its position above the castle. When the full moon finally arrived I had to shorten the shutter speed in order to get details of the moon which otherwise would have been overexposed. The camera position was the same in both pictures. My Nikon D500 camera was used together with the Tameron 150-600 mm lens@450 and f5.6. Shutter speed for the moon 1/80 sec and ISO 100.
Later in the computer I combined the two images (image blending) in Photoshop to produce a HDR-like image with details of both the castle ruin and the moon.
